nDaX(R)-100: Solar power through the roof

Based in Bavaria, RWE SCHOTT Solar relies on us to manufacture cutting-edge mounting systems and covering frames for in-roof solar electricity systems. These units are designed to be just as rainproof, stable and durable as any other roofing material. The main difference: this modern-day ‘solar roof’ replaces the conventional tiles on the roof facing south. Here, the solar roof serves two purposes: it generates clean energy while providing secure shelter in keeping with building guidelines.

Revised in 2004, Germany’s renewable energy law has spurred a boom in renewable energy technology across the country. The mass-market barriers to entry are now lower than ever – especially for solar electricity technology (photovoltaics). Over the last two years, demand for photovoltaic systems has skyrocketed as more and more people are looking for an off-grid way to turn the sun’s energy into electricity. As a result, industry professionals require new production technologies to properly install these units, repair old roofs and build new ones. InDaX(R)-100, the latest system from RWE SCHOTT Solar, is an excellent example of an innovative and high-performance application in solar energy.

Pooling expertise for the perfect solution

At Wurster, we ask a lot of our modules. They need to fit seamlessly into existing roofs, for example, and to be arranged in a shingled pattern. What’s more, each module needs to allow for rear ventilation so they can work at peak efficiency. To accomplish every one of these goals, we drew on our expertise in design, laser cutting, bending and welding. By doing so, we were also able to produce greater quantities at lower cost. Our knowledge of sheet metal as well as our machines for section-rolling, stamping, bending and laser cutting dovetailed perfectly with our experience in roof windows. After all, we’re a supplier to one of the world’s largest manufacturers of roof windows.
